The Natural Algae Astaxanthin Association Releases First Round of its Retail Product Verification Program Results

As featured in Whole Foods Magazine, the Natural Algae Astaxanthin Association (NAXA) has completed its first round of testing of retail astaxanthin products after expanding the NAXA Verification Program to include retail products earlier this year. Twelve products were tested to verify that the source of astaxanthin as described on the label is derived from Haematococcus pluvialis. The NAXA Verification Program used HPLC test results to confirm that 10 of the 12 products tested correctly labeled the product as natural astaxanthin derived from Haematococcus pluvialis. Two of the products tested were not confirmed by HPLC to be astaxanthin derived from Haematococcus pluvialis.
